George Barkets, Jr., 89, of Flatwoods, WV, passed away May 28, 2017 at the Braxton County Health Care Center. He was born January 16, 1928, at Rivesville, WV, the son of the late George Sr. and Veronica Barkets. Also preceding him in death were sisters, Elizabeth, Sissy and Dorothy.
George is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, MavaDell (Richardson) Barkets; sister, Helen Stevenson of PA and close relative Laura “Jimmy” Brown.
George was a member of the Flatwoods United Methodist Church for twenty-five years. He served four years in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 12-1 p.m. at the Flatwoods United Methodist Church, Flatwoods, WV 26621 with the Funeral Services immediately following with Reverend Doug Smailes officiating. Interment will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the Braxton County American Legion Post 33.
