Billy James Varney, 75, passed away October 25, 2016 at his home. He was born October 15, 1939 in Gassaway, WV to the late Demmy and Bayon (Butcher) Varney. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Danny Varney.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darlene (Brammer) Varney; daughters, Katherine Greenleaf, Gassaway, WV, Billy Jo Rollyson, Charleston, WV, Sherri Varney Snodgrass, Florida and Michelle Jarrett, Charleston, WV. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Varney served his County in the United States Military. He was a devoted father and husband and had a big heart. He loved spending time outdoors fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed watching baseball and his favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. He always liked to watch westerns when they came on and Gunsmoke was one of his favorites.
Per his request, his body will be cremated. There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Frametown, WV with full Military Honors being conducted.
