Obituary for Jerry R. Kelley
Jerry R. Kelley, age 87, of Carleton, Michigan passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Medilodge of Monroe in Monroe, Michigan. Born on August 6, 1935 in Fairmont, West Virginia.
After high school he received a football scholarship at Glenville State College. He would later earn a degree at Wesley College. While attending school, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane McPherson. They were happily married for 58 years until her passing in 2017. From this union, they produced 4 children; Robert, Deborah, Ronald, and Michael. After serving in the Army ROTC, he was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile crisis. He later worked for Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, MI as a chemist. He retired after 34 years of dedicated service. Jerry enjoyed life as an avid hunter, fisherman & athlete, participating in various sports. You could always catch him cheering on his favorite football teams from WV.
He was proceeded in death is his wife Mary Jane, daughter Deborah, both parents, and 2 brothers. He is survived by his 3 children: Robert (Linda) Kelley, Ronald (Pam) Kelley, Michael (Laura) Kelley. Sister Joanne Simmons, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Stockert Funeral Home & Cremation, Flatwoods, WV. Pastor Ronzel Roberts will officiate the service. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 1-3 pm.
Final resting place will be in the McPherson Cemetery, Orlando, WV. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Burnsville High School Alumni Association in Burnsville WV.
