Obituary for Jimmy "Jim" Darrell Lester

Jimmy "Jim" Darrell  Lester
Jimmy “Jim” Darrell Lester, 77, of Sutton, WV passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, September 9, 2017 after a long illness. He was born in Landisburg, WV on April 28, 1940 to the late Henry Houston Lester and Mary (Campbell) Lester. He was also preceded in death by his son, Greg Lester and brother, Ricky Dwayne Lester.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Evelyn Lester and daughter, Carolyn Smith, Rainelle, WV and brother, Dennis Houston Lester, Chicago, IL. Also surviving is granddaughter, Suvannah and grandson Bradley.
Mr. Lester served his Country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. He was employed by Fleet Technical Support, Squadron 40 at Norfolk, VA. During his life time he was employed in about 20 different states as a crane operator. He loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed entertaining those around him. He was very protective of his family and those he loved. One of his many hobbies was spending time on the lake on his pontoon boat.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 11 a.m. in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Chapel with Chaplin Jen Suehs-Vassel, presiding. Interment will follow funeral services in the Wallace and Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, WV with Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Navy Honor Guard.
